The Zanderij system was the location of at least one habitable world and as of 3145 was located in the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Zanderij system is located near the Esteros and Atocongo systems.[4][5]

System History[edit]

The Zanderij system was colonized by the Lyran Commonwealth during the Star League era at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[5][6]

Planetary History[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Zanderij is probably best known as the location of a combined Kell Hounds/Clan Wolf ambush of the Red Corsair in 3055. The Red Corsair's WarShip dropped two Overlord-class DropShips in the asteroid field surrounding Zanderij, and the Hounds and Wolves attacked. The assault was successful, destroying one of the Overlords and sending the WarShip on the run.[39] More importantly, an Inner Sphere officer who was captured by the Red Corsair was freed and provided valuable intelligence to the Hounds. This intelligence would eventually lead to the Red Corsair's destruction.[40]

Jihad[edit]

Clan Jade Falcon forces assaulted Zanderij during the second week of June 3070, one of a number of planetary assaults launched by the Falcons against the Lyran Alliance during the Jihad. The fighting on Zanderij would last until the 12th August, when a combination of LAAF and Clan Wolf-in-Exile forces would drive the Falcons offworld.[41]

The Jade Falcons would attack Zanderij again in 3074 or very early 3075; this time, forces from Iota Galaxy landed on Zanderij, only to find themselves engaging three mercenary units: Greenburg's Godzillas, the Tooth of Ymir, and Thor's Hammers. The Thor's Hammers mercenary unit, commanded by Major Napoleon Hobart, had recently taken receipt of a battery of newly manufactured Helepolis 'Mechs which had been organized into a battery of ArtilleryMechs commanded by Captain Gustav Colt. Colt was a veteran artilleryman from the Twelfth Star Guards, a multiregiment mercenary unit destroyed during the initial Clan invasion. Colt and the motley collection of 'Mechs armed with artillery weapons known as "Hobart's Funnies" proved hugely effective against the Jade Falcon forces, pinning Iota Galaxy down with a constant artillery barrage and preventing the Falcon forces from breaking out of their initial landing zone. The Jade Falcons attempted to remove Colt's forces by launching a head-hunting attack using Elementals, only to discover that the Hammers had predicted the attack and screened the Funnies extensively with conventional forces; the Elementals were wiped out by the Hammers, leaving the surviving elements of Iota Galaxy little option but to withdraw.[42]
