History

Formation

The 11th Ghost regiment was formed by the Rekara yakuza clan. They provided all the warriors, as well as a quarter of the 'Mechs and equipment. The 11th is fiercely competitive, particularly with the 12th Ghost, and has a reputation for using any means necessary to win an encounter, be it combat or just a training exercise. [1]

War of 3039

Matar

The unit was selected as one half of the task force which had the goal to reconquer Matar from the AFFS. The unit lost one JumpShip together with its docked DropShip through an accident. The DCMS forces continued their invasion even with this setback. The AFFS units on the world were having difficulties pacifying the planet because of stiff resistance from its people. The 11th Ghost landed simultaneously with the 12th Ghost on the Tri-City. The citizens welcomed the Ghost units as liberators but when the 1st Kestrel Grenadiers started a counter assault the situation turned grim. Hundreds of people were killed and entire streets were destroyed. The people decide to fight the 1st Kathil Uhlans and Grenadiers. This proved to be a turning point and the Davion command decided to leave the world immediately. [2]

Clan Invasion era

As of early 3050, a Wolfnet report speculated that the unit was based on Midway. [3], by 3054 ROM intelligence indicated the unit as being stationed on Najha, [4] which was confirmed by an overview of the DCMS prepared for the Coordinator in 3059.[5] Apart from unproven ISF inferences that the unit might have been trying to open trade relations of some sort with the Clans, [1] due to both their backwater world deployment and lack of advanced technology the 11th as a whole avoided action against the Children of Kerensky during both the initial invasion and Operation Bulldog.

Dominion War

During the Dominion War the 11th Ghost redeployed to Numki to protect the Clan front from Clan Ghost Bear aggression.[6] During this same time they encountered their rivals in the 12th Ghost on Najha, engaging in a war of pranks that turned increasingly deadly.

Federated Suns Incursion

The 11th Ghost was scheduled to rotate to the Draconis March to counterattack the Federated Suns, but their JumpShip unexpectedly suffered a drive failure. This stranded them on Numki for an additional six months, by which time the incursion had ended. The 11th Ghost's members blamed the 12th Ghost for the drive failure.[6]

Jihad

In late 3069 Clan Snow Raven attacked Valencia. The two battalions of the Eleventh Ghost that were stationed on that world were destroyed.[7] After this loss, the remaining battalion was redeployed to Camlann on the Clan Ghost Bear border. The Eleventh was to serve as reinforcements for Operation SCOUR, but in reality they were too weak to do anything other than defend the world from Clan attacks.[8]

Their posting on Camlann, combined with the disapproval of the High Command for losing Valencia, prevented the Eleventh Ghost from rebuilding beyond their remaining battalion. In 3085, however, they were redeployed to Kaznejoy. This system offered the Eleventh a large number of recruits. That the Eleventh could find so many recruits caused the ISF to schedule a clean up operation.[9]

Republic Era

In 3099 they were deployed near New Barcella on Irece to guard a Clan Nova Cat battle armor factory.[10] In 3100 the Eleventh and the 5th Sword of Light landed on Trondheim. The Eleventh surrounded the Second Rasalhague Bears and destroyed seven Stars of that unit in an hour. Shortly after that the Eleventh took control of the Second's base; The Eleventh destroyed the Second shortly after that.[11] Two weeks later the Eleventh attacked the 2nd Kavalleri Cluster, but withdrew when the rest of Polar Galaxy arrived at Trondheim.[12]

Dark Age

After the Blackout the Eleventh Ghost fought the Davion Light Guards on Brookeland.[13][14] The cost was very high with the Eleventh taking in what was left of the Tenth Ghost at the end of the battle with little other forces left to rebuild from. [15]

Officers

Rank Name Command
Commanding Officers of the 11th Ghost
Tai-sa Tomi Ourho 3059 - 3069[1][16][7]
Tai-sa Petar Hendrikx 3085[17]
Tai-sa Kiyomori Nakanishi 3145[18]

Notes

Tactics

The unit will try anything to control a battle. They focus the fire of several machines onto a single enemy 'Mech. Other tactics are to lure small groups in positions were the waiting heavier Mechs could destroy them easily. When the numbers turn against them, they fall back to regroup. The command uses any and all methods to gain victory.
