History

Formation

The unit was raised privately by Colonel Lloyd McGavin from retired DCMS MechWarriors.[1]

The unit was stationed on world of Matamoras in 3050. Like its sister regiment the Second Night Stalkers only allowed retired MechWarriors at the company level or higher.[2] Some new Chu-is would be assigned to the Night Stalkers as a sort of "finishing school" where they would benefit from the wisdom of the older officers.

4th Succession War

Ronin Wars

War of 3039

Clan Invasion

Since the Night Stalkers regiments refused to let themselves be used as cannon fodder, they were assigned to difficult tasks. Where the First Night Stalkers were wiped out during the Ronin Wars, the Second was shamed and sent to Matamoras as a punishment. This system quickly became vitally important during the Clan Invasion. The Night Stalkers used their years of experience to keep the attacking Clans off balance.

Operation Bulldog

During Operation Bulldog, the Second Night Stalkers defeated Clan Smoke Jaguars Nineteenths Striker Cluster forces that attacked the Combine world of Matamoras.[3] The Night Stalkers and 1st Free Worlds Guards pinned the Jaguars in place while Ryuken-yon dropped directly on the Jaguar positions.[4]

Dominion War

The Second held the world of Darius during the Dominion War.[5]

Federated Suns Incursion

Jihad

The Second was decimated by a Word of Blake assault on Cebalrai. Survivors sided with a Black Dragon society uprising on Ningxia, and were wiped out by the Ryuken-roku.[6]

Officers

  • The commanding officer in 3025 was Tai-sa Todaki Johiro. Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag

Tactics

The unit specialized in raids on enemy held worlds.[7] In the latter half of the 31st century, they focused on nighttime operations.[8]
