Planetary Info

A harsh world rich in mineral resources, the world was only settled to gain access to its vast resources. Before it was part of the Republic, several Draconis Combine armaments manufacturers built factories on this world. It also boasted one of the few locations in the xenophobic Combine where another culture could exist.[34]

Planetary history

Age of War

Al Na'ir was originally settled by the Azami in the 25th century.[38]

1st Succession War

When the Dragon took control of Al Na'ir and integrated the Arkab Legions into the Arm of the Dragon, the Combine created the School for Cultural Investigation on Al Na'ir's surface. This school was popular with many members of the Combine nobility and higher-educational system as it was one of the few places that the Combine approved of "foreigners".[34]

Clan Invasion Era

The vast mineral wealth and relatively open nature of the system made it a key strategic asset for the Dragon by the 3050's. Though raided many times by the Federated Suns and later the Federated Commonwealth, the Dragon retained control of the system and the population had suffered relatively few attacks.

Jihad

During the Jihad, however, that changed forever. The Word of Blake sent large numbers of AeroSpace Fighter-carrying DropShips and Pocket WarShips to the system. These Blakist units scoured the asteroid belts, destroying the Yori MechWorks assembly lines and inflicting severe losses on the population by destroying their domed cities.[34] By mid-March 3069 Al Na'ir had been conquered by the Blakists and incorporated into the Word of Blake Protectorate.[28]

Having been occupied by the Word of Blake, Al Na'ir was targeted for liberation by the allied coalition assembled by Devlin Stone; coalition forces assaulted Al Na'ir on the 1st of July 3076 as one of four planetary assaults on Protectorate worlds that took place simultaneously, with the other strikes targeting the Rio, Rochelle and Van Diemen IV systems.[39][40]

Dark Age

After the Jihad Al Na'ir was made the capital world of Prefecture II. The Prefecture's capital city was built on Cedar Rock (the largest continent) and named Phoenix. The planet's traditional capital city, Homai-Zaki, was also rebuilt by the Republic and is also located on Cedar Rock.[34]
