History

The Amaris Lancers were one of the premier forces of the Rim Worlds Republic. Lighter than most of the Rim Worlds Army forces, the Lancers were the RWA equivalent of the SLDF Striker Regiments. Their supporting armor units were hovercraft or other fast units, while their mechanized infantry were based on hovercraft. In addition, each division had a battalion of Land Air Mechs available to support the nine regiments of each division. The LAMs were typically used as recon assets, directing the other units of the division towards the target.[1]

The Lancers were usually the forces first deployed by the RWA against bandits and pirates. The Lancers were also shuffled from one deployment to another every four to six months to patrol the Republic's borders.[1]

After the start of the Amaris Civil War, most of the Amaris Lancers were transferred into the Amaris Empire Army. At the same time, several new Amaris Lancer units were created.[2]

During Kerensky's assault on Terra elements of the Amaris Lancers fought the SLDF in both London[3] and Xi'an[4]. The Lancers in China used human shields and suicide bombers to slow the SLDF. THey would later take ten thousand civilians hostage, and use them to prevent the SLDF from using artillery and aerospace strikes against their positions.[5] At the end of the summer of 2777, the 201st Lancers were destroyed to nearly the last soldier. The captured survivors were put on trial for war crimes.[6]

Notes

Given that the Amaris Lancers were division-sized formations, presumably the 201st Lancers were the first regiment of the Twentieth Amaris Lancers.
