The Aosia system is home to at least one habitable planet, and as at 2750 was located in the Sarna Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[1]

System Description

The Aosia system is located near the Lee and Moravian systems.[1]

System History

The Aosia system was settled during the First Exodus from Terra, and was involved in conflicts during the early twenty-fourth century;[2] the Aosia system was absent from maps dating from 2366 onwards,[3] indicating that the system had been depopulated or abandoned, but was recolonized at some point during the Star League era after the end of the Reunification War.[4][1]

As of 2828, Aosia was reportedly a Federated Suns holding on the Capellan Confederation border. In that year, Chancellor Ilsa Liao (misspelled as "Lisa" Liao) led the Red Lancers and the Prefectorate Guard in an ill-fated attack against Orbisonia that would claim her life; the same units (or detachments thereof) reportedly also mounted an unsuccessful four-day attempt at conquering Aosia, described as a "Davion industrial center".[5] It should be noted that reports on this particular action apparently mixed up Aosia and Orbisonia; Ilsa Liao was in fact killed on the latter world. Maps from 2822 show Aosia deep in Confederation space, some 50 light-years and thus more than one jump from the border, while Orbisonia is in Federated Suns space right on the border.

By 2987, during the Third Succession War, the border had shifted and Aosia was a Federated Suns stronghold. In this year, the Federated Suns launched several attacks on the important Capellan world of Tikonov. In order to take pressure off Tikonov, the Capellan Confederation attacked Federated Suns worlds, including Aosia which was raided by Trimaldi's Secutors, Kincade's Rangers (as the principal element), Kerr's Intruders, Justinia's Cuirassiers (also described as a "backbone" of the raid), Stapleton's Iron Hand, Shepard's Mounted Fusiliers, Bullard's Armored Cavalry, and Hampton's Hessens.[6] The fighting raged across the entire planet, from rear-area depots on the southern hemisphere to the northern arctic frontier. Vast numbers of crops and ammunition dumps were destroyed, several fortified positions overrun. Bullard's Armored Cavalry specifically hunted for a large Davion gold reserve on the planet which they partially secured.

The Aosia system was removed from maps at some point prior to 3025,[7] indicating that the system had been abandoned or depopulated for a second time or was otherwise considered not noteworthy anymore.

Political Affiliation

Planetary History

During the Capellan-Supremacy War Aosia was a Capellan Hegemony world, and was indirectly involved in the end of what was known as the Kluanian Period of the war. Agents of the Sarna Supremacy hired pirates from the Kluane system to launch raids and attacks on Capellan Hegemony worlds, prolonging the war and forcing the Hegemony to redeploy forces constantly to defend against these attacks, rather than launching their own invasions of Supremacy worlds. The Kluanian Period lasted eight months, finally ending in May 2306 after forces from the Chesterton Trade League and St. Ives Mercantile Association joined the conflict, allowing enough naval forces to be brought to bear that the bulk of the Kluanian pirate forces were crushed in the Alcyone system while en route to Aosia.[2]
