The database of the (apocryphal) 1989 video game MechWarrior, set around the year 3025, gives a population of 1.323 billion for Arcadia and describes the environment as "tropical" (out of only three impressions of planetary environments given in the game, these being "desert", "ice", or "tropical"). The description one-liner reads "Strong in agriculture and manufacturing."

Planetary History

Early History

The world of Arcadia was re-colonized during the Star League era; originally having been colonized centuries earlier during the days of the Terran Alliance, the first colony was a casualty of the Age of War.[31]

The Star League

During the final years of the Star League, Arcadia was the host of a SLDF garrison. Unfortunately, it also was the site of an incident where a Major of the 236th Mechanized Infantry Division went on a killing spree after not receiving a toy in a meal he ordered. The horrendous act was made worse by several members of the Major's battalion assisting in the horrendous incident. This caused serious political repercussions between the Star League Defense Force and the Lyran Commonwealth.[32]

The Jihad

Following the invasion of the Free Worlds League by the Skye and Bolan Provinces of the Lyran Alliance in what was termed Operation ÜBERSCHATTEN, Marshall Jeremy Brett took command of the local FWLM and launched a counteroffensive, under the name Operation BROKEN FIST. BROKEN FIST went beyond simply attempting to recapture worlds that the Lyrans had seized, striking into Lyran space at numerous worlds. Arcadia was one of the worlds hit and was overrun by the League forces on the 10th of September 3068.[23]
