Description

The Asher Missile Platform was an early combat hover style vehicle designed as a fire support and recon vehicle. The Asher, originally known as AS-H, was initially designed from a failed civilian industrial transport. Sheinhardt Universal Technologies (SUT) of Sirius reworked the design as an inexpensive combat vehicle. SUT managed to court the Terran Alliance's Alliance Global Militia establishment to purchase the vehicle, after a successful trial vehicle proved to be successful in the field. SUT produced 5000 of the Asher for the AGM, however issues of quality were discovered after large production runs were conducted. Investigation discovered that SUT's trial units, which were produced on Sirius were produced without issues, however production models were plagued with components produced from several companies subcontracted to produce the vehicle Sheinhart Universal. Thus logistics of maintaining the Ashers per regiments was complex due to mix manufactures using different methods of producing the Asher.

Once in service, the vehicle was adequate at its roles. The vehicle did not perform perfectly, it being a challenge to drive and its turret was prone to malfunction. Due to its handling issues, it gained the nickname the "Ten-Pack" for driving drunkenly when it was firing its 10-tubes of missiles on the run.

The Asher remained in production for sixty two years, in service both the Terran Alliance and Terran Hegemony. However, by the mid-Twenty Fourth Century, SUT's subsidiaries companies began to cosmetically change the Asher and sold it to foreign interstellar nations. Thus, Sheinhardt was shut down and production of the Asher was ended due to the company breaking laws of exporting technology.[3]

Equipment and Capabilities

The Asher is designed originally as heavy civilian transport, due to the technologies of the day. The vehicle considered to have been constructed with what has later been termed as Primitive Technology for Combat oriented vehicles. The vehicle's internal combustion engine powers the vehicle to 129k k/ph and fueled by a two ton fuel tank. It's hull is protected by 2.5 tons of BAR7 grade armor, giving it modest protection for it's day.

It's primary armaments consisted of pair of 5-tubed Long-Range Missile launchers housed in the turret. The launcher was feed one ton of ammunition from it's ammo bay, giving it modest sustainability in the field. While not intended engage heavy units at short ranges, it was fitted out handle infantry should it encounter them. Three machine guns backed up by a Vehicle flamer these regards. The pair of machine guns were turreted mounted, while single gun and the flamer were fitted fixed forward. The weapons were guided by an Advance Fire Control, giving the weapons high accuracy for it's time.[4]

Notes

  • The Asher was built as a primitive combat vehicle, which is similar to construction rules for support vehicles.
  • As of this writing, the only a record sheet for the vehicle that is found in the original PDF. The variants noted in the fluff have not been stated as of yet.
