Captain Ataru Uchimaya was an officer in Wolf's Dragoons, who served as the commander of Uchimaya's Company ("The Swarm") of Charlie Battalion in Alpha Regiment, as of 3028.[1]

Uchimaya was reputed to be a cunning tactician and a student of Colonel Sarah Weisz's mobile warfare techniques. He was also a poet, painter, and martial artist while off duty, and was considered by the Dragoons to be a better example of the warrior spirit and code of bushido than many of the corrupt and scheming samurai of the Draconis Combine.
He led his company during the Battle of Misery, his skill being credited for it surviving almost entirely intact, except ironically for his own death during that engagement.[1]
