The Augustine system is the location of at least one habitable world, Augustine VI, and as at 3145 was located in the Augustine Alliance province of the Free Worlds League.[2][3]

System Description

The Augustine system is located near the Hamilton and Pliska systems[4] and consists of a class G4II primary orbited by at least six worlds. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was located at the nadir jump point.[1]

System History

The Augustine system was colonized at some point during the First Exodus from Terra.[5]

Augustine IV

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Augustine VI - more commonly referred to simply as Augustine, formerly known as planet 2112-8845 A—is the sixth planet in the Augustine system and is a warm, arid world with four moons named Bona, Numidia, Suk Arras and Tagaste.[1]

Planetary History

Augustine was originally settled by Jesuits as a religious colony. During the Succession Wars nearly two-thirds of the population was killed or driven offworld, and the famous Seminary was destroyed. Though Augustine has retained close ties to the Roman Catholic church, it has also developed a population with a broad variety of religions. A warm, pleasant world, Augustine has seen much of the population loss of the Succession Wars reversed in the thirty-first century as new immigrants arrived.[1]

Kabuko is the northernmost continent and its main industries are based on mining and petrochemicals. The other two continents are devoted to farming and livestock.[1]

The world has been a landhold of the Marik family since the 27th century. The Captain-General's immediate family is often appointed to this world. Alys Roussett-Marik was the world's noble leader before the Jihad forced her off-world. Given the presence of the Marik family and the potential political and religious turmoil it isn't surprising that SAFE had many agents and offices on the world, both overt and discreet.[1]

On the 29th of November 3071 the Marik Commonwealth began a blockade of Augustine.[6][7]

Augustine V

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Augustine V - more commonly referred to simply as Gethsemane, is the fight planet in the Augustine system. The planet is uninhabited.

Planetary History

Gethsemane was the site of a battle in 3136. Kirkpatrick's Invaders battled a force of indeterminate strength that sported what Augustine officials called - trademark neo-Blakist livery and organization employing BattleMechs and vehicles of both Star League and latter-31st century designs. The battle over and on Gethsemane lasted for almost two hours before the mercenary forces departed, almost as swiftly as they had arrived. A massive non-nuclear explosion at the disused mining facility apparently caught a fair number of the neo-Blakist forces in the blast, and at least one vessel bearing Cult of Apollyon or the Broadsword Brotherhood markings was recovered adrift but abandoned in Gethsemane's orbit.[8]
