2018 Founder's Awards Nominations[edit]

Please post your nominations for the various Founder's awards here for discussion. Post not only the Editor's or Admin's name, but also why you feel that person should be the awardee. Nominations will close on the 31st of March, with Nicjansma announcing after he has made his decisions. Negative responses are not solicited, as these are only for nominations.

Five out of the six Founder's Awards are up for nomination; the Founder's Consistent Service Award is completely left up to Nic. The criteria/descriptions of the awards can be found here.

Please post your nominations under the appropriate sub-heading.

Founder's Outstanding Member of the Year Award[edit]

from the citation: "awarded...for the previous year's efforts" (overall)
  • Pserratv. I nominate Pserratv because the way he is going he is going to be the new Doneve. 15,000 edits in about 18 months and the quality of the edits is not sacrifeced.Dmon (talk) 13:20, 16 February 2019 (EST)
I agree. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
I just looked at the work Pserratv has done, and wow. Just wow. Agree with nomination. --Mbear(talk) 08:23, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Hoping this not too late, but i agree. He been relentlessly taking are of things most folks having undertaken in along time. -- Wrangler (talk) 08:03, 10 April 2019 (EDT)

Founder's Superior Editor of the Year Award[edit]

from the citation: "awarded...for the previous year's efforts" (in editing)
  • Dmon. Dmon often is one of the first to first jump on an IP's talk comments for changes, corrections, or edits. Kudos, deserves recognition. Revanche (talk|contribs) 13:44, 16 February 2019 (EST)
I've not been particularly active here since October due to changes at work, but I do check the site several times a day, and every time I check, Dmon's hustling away, not just editing but advising, helping and encouraging others. He thoroughly deserves this nomination. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
He is one of the references of the page. I agree.--Pserratv (talk) 05:41, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Agree with this nomination.--Mbear(talk) 08:23, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Agreed, he been steadyfast on helping out and making sure stuff is all set for editing. -- Wrangler (talk) 08:02, 10 April 2019 (EDT)

Founder's Superior Writer of the Year Award[edit]

from the citation: "awarded...for the previous year's efforts" (in writing)
  • LittleWolf, On the "full articles" front I think 2018 was a fairly slim year, most edit where gradual refinements, LittleWolf however wrote some huge detailed articled that never failed to impress me.Dmon (talk) 13:30, 16 February 2019 (EST)
I'll second this nomination. --Mbear(talk) 08:23, 21 February 2019 (EST)

Founder's Exceptional Ambassador of the Year Award[edit]

from the citation: "awarded...to the member who worked the hardest to promote Sarna's existence, strengths and capabilities to other BattleTech communities"
  • Revanche, I have not seen Rev this active in a few years, it is nice to have him back and showing all the new editors their way around the wiki.Dmon (talk) 13:22, 16 February 2019 (EST)
Would a good ambassador use the phrase "bite me" under any circumstances? If so, he should be disqualified. Revanche (talk|contribs) 13:39, 16 February 2019 (EST)
Depends on what kind of community we are these days ;-)Dmon (talk) 13:43, 16 February 2019 (EST)
With his work with the mapping community, Rev's breathed life back into the Planets Project that was lacking while it was just me slogging away on individual articles, and the changes that are going to come as a result are going to be a massive, tangible and visible improvement to the wiki. He's not only getting great things done, he's bringing people into the wiki community from outside to do it, and putting great amounts of time and energy into it. I definitely support this recommendation. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Wrangler, Wrangler has been the guy creating a Product article every time CGL release anything new, that alone is worthy because it means we are up-to-date usually within a few hours.Dmon (talk) 13:43, 16 February 2019 (EST)
If they don't get picked for this category, they should get the honourable mention at least. Admiral Obvious (talk) 04:48, 26 February 2019 (EST)

Founder's Honorable Mention Award[edit]

from the citation: "awarded...to candidates warranting special recognition for the previous year's efforts; awarded to selected nominees of the Outstanding, Superior & Exceptional awards"

  • Will9761, Will is a quiet "nuts & bolts" kinda editor fixing lots of little details.Dmon (talk) 13:36, 16 February 2019 (EST)
Seconded. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Frabby, I know Frabby does not really like the whole awards thing but it just feels wrong not to nominate him for something.Dmon (talk) 13:36, 16 February 2019 (EST)
Seconded, and not just to see Frabby's reaction Tongue.gif BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Cache: I always see Cache plugging away on here, adding a lot of new content and working steadily through a succession of personal projects. He's an enthusiastic and prolific editor that deserves the recognition of a Founder's Award. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Cyc: another editor who continues to add useful content to the wiki, and who has spent a considerable amount of effort keeping the wiki up to date with content linked to the MechWarrior Online franchise. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Mendrugo: we now have considerably more detail than we ever had before on video game content, particularly the early video games in the franchise, as well as details added to numerous BattleTech fiction articles thanks to Mendrugo's efforts. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Seconded, I knew there was somebody I would forget!Dmon (talk) 03:54, 6 March 2019 (EST)
  • JubalHarshaw: this editor put a lot of work in during the first half of 2018 to bring consistency in both formats and naming conventions for historical and faction articles, which is something that helps the wiki look like a more professional enterprise. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 05:17, 21 February 2019 (EST)
  • Nuclear-Fridge: Editing on a steady basis throughout the year, Nuclear-Fridge has fixed hundreds of grammatical and typographical errors, helping the wiki look more professional. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:56, 25 February 2019 (EST)
