Description

The Word of Blake's Bolla Stealth Tank was designed during the early part of the Jihad as part of the Serpentus Series of OmniVehicles. The Bolla's inception was made possible from salvage of Capellan stealth vehicles in 3069 and was first seen in combat in 3072. The tank was designed to support cybernetically enhanced infantry of the Manei Domini and produced by Krupp Armament Works on Terra.[1]

The tank made its first appearance in combat on Galatea with elements of the 47th Shadow Division assisting pacification of the planet. The tank with its flexible omni-pod weaponry and its stealth capacities took allied mercenary forces by surprise during the conflict. It proved to be invaluable in allowing the 11th Division to regroup during fighting outside Galatea City against the coalition forces' drive to push the Blakist forces from the planet.[1]

Featuring fifteen and half tons of pod space, the Bolla's fixed equipment includes a C3i Computer, Guardian ECM Suite, six ton capacity Infantry Compartment and ten heat sinks.[1]

After the Jihad, many of these vehicles fell into the hands of Coalition Allies, and the Armed Forces of the newly formed Republic of the Sphere. The Republic, liking the vehicle's performance, had it redesigned to their specific needs, making a new version by 3084.[2]

Weapons and Equipment

The Bolla carries a fixed front-mounted Volkers Machine Gun with a single ton of ammunition in all its configurations, its Omni pod fitting is only found in the Bolla's turret. Intended for fire-support situations, the primary "Invictus" configuration includes two Multi-Missile Nine-Tube Launcher with three tons of ammunition and an additional machine gun mounted in the turret.[1]

Alternate Configurations

  • Primary (Invictus) Configuration
That configuration used a mix of advanced electronic equipment and weapons to support the infantry. An Improved C3 CPU provided allied units with targeting information, because the crew used the on-board Guardian ECM to hide their presence on the battlefield. 2 Machine Guns paired with 2 MML 9 launchers supplied the infantry with sufficient fire support when needed.[1] BV (2.0)= 968 [4]
  • Alt. Config. B ("Infernus")
The Infernus configuration is built around a trio of Streak SRM 6 Launchers with 30 rounds of ammunition.[1] BV (2.0)= 1,076[7]
  • Alt. Config. C ("Comminus")
As a Sniper configuration for the tank, the Comminus features a single Light Gauss Rifle with 32 rounds of ammunition. The vehicle is given an Anti-Missile System to protect it from incoming missile attacks. Its ammo bay carries 12 rounds for the system.[1] BV (2.0)= 1,005[8]

Variants

Republic of the Sphere Variant

After the Word of Blake was defeated in the Jihad, Maxwell-Pulaski Motors modified the design slightly and produced it for the Republic of the Sphere in 3084.[9] The main differences are the removal of its Blakist features. The infantry bay was reduced to four tons, and the C3i system was replaced by a C3 Slave unit. The machine gun ammunition was reduced to a half-ton. All these changes increased the pod space available to the RAF Bollas by four and a half tons, but the turret can only mount fifteen tons of equipment. The Stealth Armor was retained, as was the Guardian ECM suite.[2]

RAF Configurations

  • Primary
The primary configuration uses a Rotary AC/5 and twin MML-3s to provide long range firepower. A turret mounted TAG system allows the vehicle to call in precision artillery strikes. An extra machine gun provides extra anti-infantry protection. BV (2.0) = 1,243[2]
  • Alt. Config. B
In addition to the fixed C3 Slave, this variant carries a C3 Master computer to coordinate the fire of a lance. A pair of turret-mounted MML-7s allow the B configuration to rain down long range fire or unleash devastating short range firepower. A trio of Magshots is mounted in the turret as well. BV (2.0) = 961[2]
  • Alt. Config. C
A Light AC/5 provides the long range firepower for this configuration. A pair of Streak SRM-6 missile launchers allows the Bolla C to inflict severe damage on an enemy who gets too close. Infantry are not safe from the additional Machine Gun mounted in the front. Like the A configuration, the Bolla C carries a TAG system to spot for precise artillery strikes. BV (2.0) = 1,068[2]
  • Alt. Config. D
This variant is equipped with a pair of Machine Guns, Medium Chemical Laser, and a Sniper Cannon. The Sniper Cannon has two tons of ammunition and the Medium Chemical Laser carries a ton of ammunition, while the machine guns share a half ton of ammunition. BV (2.0) = 877[10]
