The Canopian Ruins are a region of space in the Deep Periphery that extends from the Magistracy of Canopus's former Ballad Province to the Perseus-Cepherus Cloud Complex. The night skies of worlds in the Ruins are bright with nebulae, but despite its beauty, the vast sea of gas, dust and radiation has ensured that fewer habitable worlds developed in the region than elsewhere[1]. During the era of the Star League the region was extensively colonized, and despite the region's formal abandonment during the Succession Wars the Magistracy continued unofficially to exploit the remains of these projects until at least the end of the Word of Blake Jihad[2].
