The Chesterton Liberation Battalion was a pro-Capellan Confederation terrorist group, which sought the return of the Chesterton worlds from Davion sovereignty, which was active as of 2760.[1]

The Chesterton Liberation Battalion claimed responsibility for a terrorist bombing, in May 2760, which destroyed a BattleMech factory on the Federated Suns world of Demeter using a Nuclear Weapon. The Federated Suns accused the Maskirovka of aiding the terrorists, though they denied these charges.[1][2][3] Treating the attack as a breach of the Bell Accord between the two states, it caused a brief period of open conflict between Liao and Davion sides known as the Border War, to which the Star League responded by deploying the Star League Defense Force's Sixteenth Fleet to the Chesterton region.[4]
Despite the Davion accusations, and a broader campaign to destabilize the Chesterton worlds ordered by Chancellor Warex Liao,[3] later investigations into internal Maskirovka records suggested the CLB was not a Maskirovka front. While one of the CLB's key members was Edgar Borlenko, a former Maskirovka analyst and Chesterton native, these records did not support the popular Davion theory that he joined the group at the behest of the Maskirovka.[2]
