Christoph Nick, callsign Corsair, was a mercenary MechWarrior operating in the rimward Periphery circa 3025.

Biography

Little information is known about Christoph Nick's early life, save that the skilled warrior one day turned up on Tortuga Prime to join the pirate bands who operated there, more interested in the freedom offered by being a pirate rather than the power that resulted. Nick would work with various bands on Tortuga for many years and engage in numerous raids, but would studiously avoid enslaving anybody, a frequent point of contention with Dame Trevaline. Surviving her intermittent assassination attempts, while never entering into open conflict, the relationship between Trevaline and Nick would eventually sour to the point he could serve her no longer. One night Nick would flee Tortuga after he almost single-handedly freed two hundred slaves, stole three DropShips and burned down four of Trevaline's stashes.[1]

While Christoph Nick remains publicly tight lipped about his pirate days, his reputation frequently proceeds him wherever he goes. This may explain why he prefers to stay on the move, only working with mercenary units without a fixed contract.[1]

Notes

  • The character is a tribute to the real Christoph Nick, who was an avid fan, freelancer and important supporter of the BattleTech franchise and is tragically missing and officially presumed dead since 2005.
  • At initial release the character's first name is occasionally spelled "Cristoph". Harebrained Schemes have confirmed that this is an unintended misspelling and indicated it needed to be corrected. (See also this article's Talk page). The mistake was corrected in June 2018 as part of the first major update to the game (version 1.1).

Cannonicity

One of 62 MechWarriors designed by BattleTech (video game) Kickstarter backers of Mercenary Mechcommander and above. Featured only in the apocryphal computer game BattleTech video game, the character is considered apocryphal as well.[1]
