System Description
The Crofton system is located near the Benet III and Hoff systems[4] and consists of a class F9V primary orbited by at least three planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the system and zenith jump point.[1]
System History
The Crossing system was colonised during or shortly before the Age of War and was a member of the Federated Suns by the end of the era.[5][6]
Crossing IV

Crossing IV - more commonly known simply as Crossing - is the fourth planet in the system and has four moons named Journeyman, Scope, Trinket and Wayfarer.[1]
Planetary History
Succession Wars
Two of Crossing's moons were AFFS military reservations. Trinket was home to a hostile environment training center, where infantry units were trained in xenoplanetary, vacuum, and zero-gravity environments. Typically two regiments were present at any time. Wayfarer was used by the Department of the Quartermaster as a regional AeroSpace proving ground. The Quartermaster used the Wayfarer facility to test missile ammunition and seeker systems developed by new military contractors.[1]
Crossing was home to a large civilian population. Many of these civilians were retired AFFS members, and so the MIIO maintained a presence on the world to look for activity that supported the Warrior's Cabal or other anti-Federated Suns movements. By the end of the Third Succession War the designated ruler of Crossing, Baron Caine, was actively pushing for the Draconis March Militia to be expanded via the raising of an additional command from Crossing. It was uncertain whether Duke Sandoval, the ruler of the Draconis March would have been able to obtain the vehicles and BattleMechs needed for such an expansion given the number of commands engaged in combat across the March at any given time, but whereas in the past the suggestion of such an expansion had been fruitless given the combination of strong aerospace defenses on Wayfarer and the constant military traffic through the system, the advent of the Fourth Succession War made the idea more appealing.[1]

Geography
The two major continents on Crossing are named Charon and Ganse; Charon is located in the southern hemisphre, while Ganse is in the western hemisphere. Notable geographical features on Crossing include the Tartarus Caldera, a large bowl-shaped caldera, and a sea known as the Averrant Sea that has crystal-clear water due to an analogue of a monocellular plankton unique to the seas of Crossing and a complete lack of predators.[1]
Planetary Locations
- Averrant City: the planetary capital and site of the largest non-military spaceport on Crossing; located on Ganse.[1]
- Crassus: a city on Crossing notable for having an extremely high population of retired military veterans.[1]
- New Rhodes: a city on Crossing notable for having an extremely high population of retired military veterans.[1]
- The Shores: a popular tourist destination some fourteen kilometers south of Averrant City.[1]
