History[edit]
Leftenant General Kendall, serving with the Alcyone CMM, was stationed on Alcyone in 3050 and remained there by 3062.[1][2] Kendall was torn between his loyalty to the Federated Commonwealth and his duty to defend the Alcyone PDZ from harm. The general knew that he had to work with Archon Katherine Steiner-Davion to keep his unit in fighting shape but that fully siding with her would make his militia a target for hostile forces. Knowing that his militamen couldn't win a fight against its own Victor-loyal troops or outside units like the Avalon Hussars, Kendall instead strove to build bridges and reduce tensions in the area.[2]
Civil War[edit]
After the beginning of the Federated Commonwealth Civil War and the loss of both the Alcyone PDZ's commander and deputy commander, Kendall refused to acknowledge the authority of the pro-Victor Marshal Linda Archer as replacement commander of the region. Over the course of December 3062, the combined might of the Twentieth Avalon Hussars and Fifth Davion Guards wore away at Kendall's militiamen and, by year's end, only the logistics depots at Fort Gibson and Hagarstown were under his control. Well-entrenched and prepared to make his opponents pay for the Alcyone CMM's destruction, Kendall and Archer both decided to end the year in a stalemate, waiting for an opportunity to act.[3]
On 28 March 3063, the Victor-aligned Third NAIS Cadre arrived on Alcyone under a communications blackout and struck Kendall's defenses in conjunction with both the Fifth Guards and Twentieth Hussars. Within seventy minutes of the attack on Fort Gibson, Kendall and three of his senior officers were taken prisoner by the Third Cadre's battle armor troops while the Hagarstown defenders put up a fierce resistance before razing the supply depot and retreating into the countryside. On 28 May, the final pockets of CMM resistance were defeated in the Cariapan Mountains, giving Alcyone to Victor and definitively ending Kendall's role in the war.[4]
