Colonel Daniel Cayan was the commander of the Third Lyran Regulars, with the Lyran Commonwealth, as of 3145.[1]

Cayan, with the Third Lyran Regulars, was based on Hood and Arluna as of 3145.[1] This spit deployment was intended to improve the responsiveness of the Third Lyran to Clan Jade Falcon raids, and while it helped slow the pace of Falcon attacks, it equally increased the units casualties due to lack of support. Colonel Cayan was concerned that, in the event of any concerted Falcon invasion, his unit would therefore quickly be degraded to the extent it could not sustain operations beyond a Company level.[2]
