The Delios system is the location of a habitable world, Delios II, and as of 3085 was located in the Deep Periphery region known as the Clan Homeworlds.

System Description

The Delios system is located near the Gatekeeper and Priori systems. In relation to the capital of the Clan Homeworlds, Strana Mechty, Arcadia is located at the coordinates --57:31.[2] The Delios system consists of a G8VI class primary star orbited by seven worlds.[1]

System History

The Delios system was colonized before 2821.[3]

Delios II

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Delios II - more commonly known simply as Delios - is the second of eight planets in the Delios system.[1]

Planetary History

Operation REVIVAL

In mid-3048 Delios was under the control of Clan Diamond Shark. The then-ilKhan, Leo Showers, became incensed by the profits being made by a Diamond Shark merchant caste trading fleet in the Clan Occupation Zones within the Inner Sphere, trading with garrison forces from the various clans - including Showers' own Clan Smoke Jaguar - and with being politically humiliated by saKhan Barbara Sennet. Showers responded by ordering one of the Smoke Jaguar Provisional Garrison Clusters in the Homeworlds to launch a Trial of Possession for Delios. This Trial was easily defeated by the Diamond Shark defending forces - Alpha Galaxy - who went on to attack Vinton, a Smoke Jaguar world, capturing and holding a number of key industrial sites and disrupting Smoke Jaguar efforts to supply their forces in the Inner Sphere until Alpha Galaxy was eventually forced offworld.[4]

Clan Nova Cat held a number of enclaves on Delios until the Abjuration of the Clan in 3060, at which point the enclaves were taken over peacefully by Clan Diamond Shark.[5] Despite the fighting on Delios being considered among the most "civil" of the engagements to be fought in the scavenger wars that followed in the wake of the Nova Cat Abjuration and the annihilation of Clan Smoke Jaguar, the engagements were still marked by free-for-alls fought between warriors from many different Clans over relatively small towns and minor industrial facilities, free-for-alls that often saw the intended prize destroyed in the process.[6][7] By 3067 the Diamond Sharks had either abandoned or been forced off Delios.[8]

Wars of Reaving

In 3071 the Coyote forces on Delios were attacked by Clan Goliath Scorpion; Khan Ariel Suvorov and Loremaster Kyrie Ben-Shimon were testing their intelligence that the Coyote touman had been overstretched by the massive gains made by the Coyotes in the wake of the Abjuration or retreat of various Clans including the Ghost Bears, Jade Falcons and Wolves from the Clan Homeworlds. The Goliath Scorpion forces successfully seized a BattleMech factory producing Vipers from the defending forces of the 330th Solahma Attack Cluster.[9]

When the Society disrupted HPG communications across the Clan Homeworlds in 3072 as a part of their uprising approximately three out of every four worlds was rendered silent; Delios was one of the exceptions, and the Coyotes used this to enable them to grab enclaves on a number of worlds.[10] Despite the HPG on Delios being active, the Goliath Scorpions had lost contact with their holdings there by 3073, as well as their holdings on Dagda and Foster, something that demoralized the Clan and led Khan Suvorov pulling in her forces and consolidating them in a fashion akin to that being used by Clan Star Adder and Clan Steel Viper.[11]

Following the Cleansing of Clan Coyote in the aftermath of the Society uprising, the much-diminished Coyotes withdrew their forces and resources from a number of worlds including Delios, Paxon, Tathis and Tiber in an effort to stabilize their defenses and rebuild. This resulted in a feeding frenzy among the other Clans as they moved to seize the enclaves and lower castes left behind in the wake of the Coyotes departure.[12]

The Cloud Cobra enclaves on Delios had been devastated during the Wars of Reaving, and following the Abjurement of the Goliath Scorpions in 3078 the Cloud Cobras moved several thousand civilians from Delios to Roche, the former Goliath Scorpion capital, over the course of several years, as well as thousands of civilians from both Albion and Eden.[13]

In the aftermath of the Society's destruction the Clans discovered that the Society had established secret facilities in various underwater caverns on Delios, in which they had been conducting illegal experiments in genetic crossbreeding outside of Clan boundaries and raising small sibkos to test the result of their experiments; those considered successful had then been transferred into Clan toumans through a combination of deception and false codices.[14]
