The Hobbs system was the location of at least one habitable world, Hobbs IV, and as at 3145 was located in the Sirdar Operational Area of the Capellan March within the Federated Suns.[2][3]

System Description

The Hobbs system is located near the Fathepur and Wernke systems[4] and consists of a class A1III primary orbited by at least four planets.[1]

System History

The Hobbs system was colonised during or shortly before the First Exodus from Terra.[5]

Hobbs IV - more commonly known simply as Hobbs - is the fourth planet in the system.[1]

Planetary History

Succession Wars

During the Succession Wars the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns used the caves on Hobbs as a giant warehouse for supplies and materiel, used to support units throughout the Capellan March. The native animals known as the Takooma viewed this as an intrusion into their habitat, and waged a guerilla war against the human intruders.[1]

Geography

Hobbs is a dry world whose native lifeforms are confined to the vast underground cave systems. These caves have their own extensive ecosystem, with the apelike mammals known as the Takooma at the top of the ecological pyramid.[1]
