Hoshi DeWitt was the commanding officer of the Fourteenth Lyran Guards as of 2786.[1]

When open hostilities broke out between the Lyran Commonwealth and Free Worlds League at the start of the First Succession War, Colonel DeWitt and the Fourteenth Lyran Guards were dispatched to take Denebola from the defending Thirty-fourth Marik Militia. After the Lyran's WarShip escort quickly attained orbital superiority, DeWitt ordered an orbital strike on the former Star League Defense Force base being used by the Marik Militia as a headquarters. While this strike did cause two companies of conventional troops to begin a months-long guerrilla campaign, half of the Marik Militia's men were killed and the rest surrendered two days after DeWitt's troops made planetfall.[1]
