Planetary History

Third Succession War

In 3023 the mercenary unit Snord's Irregulars were assigned to protect a vital water purification plant on Hyde by the Lyran Commonwealth. At the time, Lyran Intelligence indicated that Hyde, A small ocean world on the border with the Free Worlds League, would soon come under attack. While waiting for an attack to happen, Cranston Snord used his 'Mechs to conduct excavations in search of treasure. The Irregular's didn't find anything, but were still engaged in excavations when Free Worlds League Military forces, the 23rd Herron Regiment, attacked the planet. The excavation site kept the Irregulars concealed from detection during the initial invasion, allowing them to surprise the League forces and defeat the attack.[14]

Fourth Succession War

In October 3028 the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces repositioned a number of frontline units as the Free Worlds League Military launched Operation DAGGER. One of the units repositioned were the Second Donegal Guards, who were relocated from Hyde to Rahne, leaving the Fifth Donegal Guards to defend Hyde; the LCAF strategic intent wasn't to prevent a League invasion, but rather to make invading forces pay more dearly for any gains and slow the progress of any breakthrough.[33]
