Planetary History

Early History

At some point after the implementation of the Demarcation Declaration and rapid contraction of the Terran Alliance in 2242 Ingersoll became a part of a small state or proto-state known as the Ingersoll Concordium. One of a number of small nations within the region of space known as the Capellan Zone, the various worlds of the Concordium were annexed by the Capellan Hegemony in 2272, which then proceeded to absorb the conquered worlds with little difficulty.[3][4]

First Succession War

In late 2787 Captain-General Kenyon Marik launched an invasion of the Confederation, intent on capturing a corridor of worlds leading to Sarna. Having quickly seized Corey and Wazan, the Free Worlds League faced a two-year struggle to hold both worlds as the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces attempted to get reinforcements to both worlds. Chancellor Barbara Liao ordered an attack on New Delos, a major Free Worlds League Military staging ground, which disrupted supply lines, communications and repair facilities and killed twenty thousand civilians. In retaliation - and in an attempt to disrupt the flow of reinforcements to Corey and Wazan - Kenyon Marik ordered attacks on a number of Capellan worlds starting with Ingersoll, with the offensive continuing until the Capellans were forced on the defensive following a failed attack on Calloway VI in 2789.[33]

In July 2788, a small Free Worlds League naval flotilla led by the aerospace fighter carrier Chronos entered Ingersoll's orbit and firebombed ten of the planet's largest cities. The only noteworthy military target destroyed in these attacks were the planet-based DropShip assembly yards; the rest of the sites bombarded were civilian centers, most of them resorts and tourism sites.[34]

Late Succession Wars Era

Ingersoll had been the home to many of the Confederation's fine arts programs and museums. It is also the home of one of the largest economic powers in the Capellan Confederation due to its high concentration of gold and silver ore. The planet itself is widely believed to be the most beautiful in the entire Confederation. Most of the land on the world is scattered across island chains with deep blue oceans and white sandy beaches. As a result, many Capellan nobles make Ingersoll their home and delegate the running of their lands to trusted stewards.[1]

Ingersoll is also the home of many Capellan artists and art competitions. In fact since Tikonov was captured in the Fourth Succession War Ingersoll has hosted the Universal Exhibition, the Confederations largest art show. In addition, the nobles who live on the world compete to sponsor the best new artists who also live on the world.[2]

In addition to forces supplied by the CCAF, Ingersoll is also defended by a regiment of AeroSpace Fighters based at Danika, an island fortress and training facility.[2]
