Jimmie Kirston was the commanding officer of the First Aragon Borderers as of 3062.[2]
History[edit]
Leftenant General Kirston, serving with the First Aragon Borderers, was stationed on New Aragon in 3062.[2] Having just returned to his regiment's home after Operation BULLDOG, Kirston was also serving as the head of New Aragon's defensive operations. As Hauptmann General Charles Finnigan of the Third FedCom RCT, also stationed on New Aragon, refused to recognize Kirston's authority over his unit, this meant that Kirston's First Aragon was in immediate danger of coming to blows with the Third FedCom for control of the planet.[2]
Civil War[edit]
When the Federated Commonwealth Civil War began on Kathil and the Third FedCom began its march to take New Aragon from the Borderers, Kirston and the mercenary Alpha Regiment of the Twelfth Vegan Rangers struck the first blow, eliminating a third of the Third FedCom's troops on 9 December 3062. Unfortunately for Kirston and his allied unit, the Third FedCom regrouped and hit the smaller First Aragon hard, leaving both pro-Victor and pro-Katherine forces to lick their wounds for the rest of December. The First Aragon utilized materials taken from the Third FedCom to resupply for another phase of conflict and, by 4 January 3063, made an ill-fated attack against the Third FedCom that left the Borderers with only a battalion of 'Mechs remaining.[3]
During the official first wave of the Civil War, General Finnigan's Third FedCom launched a diversionary attack against the First Aragon that allowed the main thrust of the Third to destroy a majority of the Twelfth Vegan's DropShip assets, preventing any further mercenary combat drops from devastating his troops. Later, when the Twelfth Vegan Rangers found themselves surrounded by the Third FedCom, Kirston utilized the Borderers own DropShips to launch a combat drop that freed the mercenaries but left the First Aragon with only fifteen remaining 'Mechs, effectively eliminating them as an operational unit. Despite this, by working in concert and launching yet another bold aerial assault against the Third FedCom's command facility, the remaining allied troops succeeded in killing Hauptmann General Charles Finnigan on 13 April 3064. Although the Third FedCom tried to continue on under Leftenant General Rupert Hande, the loss of their leader and most of their BattleMech and aerospace forces left them in a bad position. Kirston and the Twelfth spent the rest of the first wave launching repeated combat drops and DropShip attacks against any concentrations of FedCom troops, ultimately crushing the last major resistance on May 11th.[4]
Post-Civil War[edit]
Following the end of the Federated Commonwealth Civil War, Kirston was promoted to major general and retained command of the First Aragon Borderers in their 3067 posting on New Aragon, although the regiment remained at half strength.[1]
