Julius Gramstad was the commanding officer of the Second Crucis Lancers as of 3067.[1]
History[edit]
Leftenant General Gramstad, serving with the Forty-first Avalon Hussars as both executive officer and Armor Brigade commander, was stationed on Benet III in 3062. Although the Forty-first Avalon's commander General Laura Hamilton was an excellent organizer, her lack of combat skills meant that Gramstad was in charge of the Forty-first's combat operations. Having served with the Twenty-sixth Lyran Guards during the Clan Invasion, Gramstad was both an experienced and quick-thinking officer (although the latter trait often landed him in trouble).[2]
Civil War[edit]
When the Federated Commonwealth Civil War came to Benet III and the Katherine-alligned Fifth Donegal Guards were ordered to put the entire planet under martial law, Gramstad was charged with defeating the Fifth Donegal on behalf of General Hamilton and the Forty-first Avalon Hussars. Although the first few weeks of resistance mostly involved inconsequential engagements, the Fifth's erroneous decision to engage Benet III's local Com Guards division gave Gramstad the opportunity to attack the Fifth Donegal's headquarters directly. The ensuing battle destroyed many Donegal troops but the Fifth Donegal's counter-attack hit Gramstad's exposed flank hard and resulted in the Forty-first being pushed back into the Weddi Forest. On 22 December, the Fifth Donegal combat-dropped enough 'Mechs and infantry in Gramstad's line of advance to box the regiment in, resulting in Gramstad's capture and the annihilation of the Forty-first as an effective combat unit.[3]
Post-Civil War[edit]
Living out the rest of the Civil War in captivity, Gramstad was eventually freed and promoted to the rank of general. As the Forty-first had ceased to exist during the conflict, Gramstad was given command of the Second Crucis Lancers and by 3067 was posted to Pitkin.[1]
