Planetary History

Kajikazawa is a prefecture capital in the Benjamin Military District. Unlike most prefecture capitals, Kajikazawa is located very near Benjamin. This proximity meant that historically, a lot of the administrative work that normally appears on a prefecture capital is re-routed to Benjamin. As a result, Kajikazawa was mostly used by administrators as a "remote office": Many senior administrators for the Benjamin Military District maintained vacation homes on this beautiful world, and conduct working vacations here. The economy was based mostly on tourism.[1]

During the Jihad the DCMS High Command relocated the Cosby Myomer Research Firm to this world to protect it from enemy attacks. This relocation created a construction boom and disrupted the tourist trade. The larger population and increased manufacturing sector radically altered the economy and rhythms of the world.[2] Where many military factories and industrial sites were raided or occupied by the Word of Blake during the Jihad, the Cosby plant on Kajikazawa not only escaped damage but instead actually increased the number of factory lines available.[34]

Planetary Data

Kajikazawa's major continent has large areas of mild climate and pleasant landscapes. The government has made tourism as a major industry and rents out vacation mansions to the harried politicians of nearby Benjamin. Kajikazawa also has several large ukiyos that cater to the upper classes.[35]
