Clan Invasion

During the fifth wave of the Clan Invasion, Krenice was conquered by Clan Ghost Bear in March 3052. As soon as they 12th Bear Chevaliers were immediately ambushed by the defending 5th Amphigean Light Assault Group, who engaged from concealed positions amid Bellow Canyon's natural crags before scattering through the rock formations to raid the Chevaliers' supply lines, disrupt their communications and launch the occasional assault. Clan heavy OmniMechs fruitlessly chased after the lighter, swifter machines of the Fifth ALAG until eventually flushing the defenders out using air assets and herding them away from their DropShips towards the city of Hasnorvan. During this chase Tai-sa Helen Cassidy made due by sending raiding parties to conduct hit-and-run attacks on the pursuing Ghost Bears; in at least one instance a company of Fifth 'Mechs led the entire Chevaliers Cluster on a merry chase through LightDraught Woods for two hours until the Clan warriors became lost and required aerospace observers to guide them out.[38]

As they finally approached Hasnorvan though the Fifth was taken by surprise by the 63rd Assault Trinary, which had been ordered to march toward the objective ahead of the main Clan force and dig in on the city's outskirts. When the Combine soldiers approached the dug-in Trinary's firing range, the entire force opened up, catching the Fifth within a web of interlocking fire and decimating it.[39]

Use of "Scorched earth" tactics by the defending Combine troops left much of the planets industry in ruins.[40]
