The Martin Luther Memorial Hospital was a prestigious medical facility located on Tharkad.[1][2]

Located on Tharkad, near the Royal Palace, Martin Luther Memorial Hospital was a Star League era facility which was still operating as of 3012. Named after the Sixteenth century reformer Martin Luther, the hospital was one of the most advanced in the Inner Sphere during the Succession Wars era, though by that time the knowledge regarding how to use much of its sophisticated medical equipment had been lost. The impact of this Lostech included the hospital becoming extremely departmentalized, with the rivalries between its different divisions being intense. This even extended to different departments bidding on the right to treat patients, with their family doctors acting as auctioneer.
Martin Luther Memorial Hospital's most famous patient was Archon Marcus Steiner, who died there in 2843 after contracting an aggressive form of Meningitis on Loric.[1][2] During the reign of Marcus' successor Claudius Steiner, Claudius turned a whole wing of the hospital into a series of torture chambers, using its advanced equipment to satisfy his desire to cause pain to others.[1]
