Maximillian
System Information
X:Y Coordinates-442.724 : -126.761[e]

The Maximillian system was home to at least one habitable world and as at 3145 was located in the Marian Hegemony.[1][2]

System Description

The Maximillian system is located near the Blantleff and Zorn's Keep systems.[1][2]

System History

The Maximillian system was either settled by the Circinus Federation during the Succession Wars or was an already-inhabited system that became significant enough during this period for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps.[3][4]

Marian Hegemony Invasion

In January 3066 Maximillian was invaded by the Marian Hegemony,[20] with III Legio[30] landing on the world as the very first attack of the first wave of the invasion of the Circinus Federation led by Caesar Julius O'Reilly. Blantleff was captured within weeks, with the Marian invaders being greeted as liberators in many ways by the population of the planet.[20]

III Legio expected to act in support of the next stage of the invasion, but the Circanian President, H. R. "Little Bob" McIntyre had been aware of the likelihood of an invasion and had sought aid from neighboring states. The assistance provided by the Magistracy of Canopus and the Rim Collection within the Free Worlds League was deliberately covert, and consisted of them hiring small mercenary concerns as proxies for the Federation. Some of those mercenaries were deployed to Blantleff, where they tied down the forces of III Legio with repeated small-scale hit-and-run attacks. This was then followed up by an attack on III Legio by forces disguised as reinforcements from IV Legio, but which were actually elements of the McIntyre House Guard and the Black Warriors, equipped with new BattleMechs provided by the Word of Blake.[31] The attacks inflicted heavy damage on III Legio, keeping them out of the second stage of the invasion, where they had anticipated supporting Caesar O'Reilly's drive on Circinus;[30] the invasion was subsequently halted by Caesar O'Reilly,[20] leaving III Legio rebuilding and on guard against Circinian aggression.[20]

The Jihad

On the 17th of March 3075 the Marian Hegemony worlds of Blantleff and Maximillian were attacked by forces of cybernetically-augmented troops from the Circinus Federation. Although the attackers were unable to conquer Blantleff or Maximillian, they did capture the nearby worlds of Khon Kaen and Poulsbo.[32][33]
