The database of the (apocryphal) 1989 video game MechWarrior, set around the year 3025, gives a population of 3.286 billion for Nestor and describes the environment as "tropical" (out of only three broad impressions of planetary environments given in the game, these being "desert", "ice", or "tropical"). The description one-liner reads "Agricultural mostly rice and other cereals."

Succession Wars

The Lyran Commonwealth captured - or nearly captured - Nestor from the Free Worlds League in 3013. Amongst the Lyran forces fighting on Nestor at the time were the mercenaries known as Snord's Irregulars, led by Cranston Snord. While Snord's forces were involved with the battle for the city of Tursimis, he learned that a detachment of the planetary militia - the 4074th Platoon of the Green Guard, a part of the Nestor Static Defense Unit - were transporting a case of vintage Old Earth brandy between the cities of Jillor and Millor, with the intent of shipping the brandy to Captain-General Janos Marik for his personal cellar. Shipping the brandy to the Captain-General was a part of the general evacuation of Free Worlds League Military forces in the face of the Lyran onslaught, and the news prompted the Irregulars' recon lance to abandon their posts at Tursimis and travel some fifty kilometers behind the League front lines to intercept the convoy. The Irregulars' raid was successful, with the convoy defenders being comprehensively mauled by the Irregulars 'Mechs and the brandy seized.[1]
