Planetary Info

Though Ningxia has many diamonds perfect for industrial processes, the world was actually settled for it's beautiful landscapes. Regarded as a planet-sized bonsai garden, every effort since the fall of the Star League to exploit the diamonds has been stopped by highly placed nobles, including Coordinator Takashi Kurita. These nobles, as well as many prominent businessmen, maintain vacation homes on the world.[1]

Planetary History

Star League

Ningxia was the source of industrial diamonds during the years of the Star League. As these diamonds were used in the manufacture of military grade armor across the Combine and the Terran Hegemony, the planet was the host to a Star League Defense Force garrison.[34]

Succession Wars

The world has only one city, New Zephyus. The main spaceport is located here, but in the 3020's it suffered from a series of breakdowns that affected its ability to service DropShips. In fact, Ningxia was the site of several DropShip-related accidents during this time. As a result, the agricultural companies that form the core of the planet's economy experienced difficulty in shipping their products. The temporary solution was to have DropShips land directly on the farms to load cargo, but most of the population was opposed to the practice.[1]

Post-Jihad Era

Ningxia remained an important command world for the Draconis Combine in the wake of the Jihad, even though the Ryuken-roku were redeployed away from Ningxia as the Blakists retreated. Despite the command significance of Ningxia, much of the population continued to follow a largely agrarian lifestyle.[2]

Geography

Ningxia is a small world consisting of four major landmasses, the continents of Anemoi, Astraeus, Borus and Hyacinth. The planetary capital is located on Anemoi.[2]

The planet's capital is located on a large, rocky, forest-covered island in the planet's only ocean.[35]

Planetary Locations

  • New Zephyus: Ningxia only large city and Prefecture capital.[35]
