Description

The Ostsol is designed to operate independent of supply lines for extended periods of time. The 'Mech has a top speed of 86.4 kph and carries nine tons of armor. The Ostsol is built around an all energy weapons payload which allows the 'Mech to operate for extended periods without ammunition supplies and allowing it to operate as designed. It is also nearly impossible to interdict the 'Mechs operations by striking its supply lines because of the fact that it does not need a logistical tail to keep it going for weapons but only for repair parts.

Armament

Because it is designed to operate for extended periods of time without a supply chain the Ostsol uses an all laser weapons array. The Primary weapons are two Tronel III Heavy Large Lasers. These provide the Ostsol with powerful medium to long-range firepower. As ranges close though the Ostsol is able to bring its four Tronel II Medium Lasers, two if which are rear mounted, for close-range combat.

Variants

  • OTL-4F - The 4F Ostsol completely removed the laser weapons and replaced them with two PPCs. The 'Mech is seen in some ways a poor man's Marauder or Warhammer. The variant on its own merits though is a good long range direct fire support 'Mech with its twin PPC array and the top speed of 86.4 kph allows it to dictate combat ranges to most heavier 'Mechs. BV (1.0) = 1,023
  • OTL-5D - A periphery upgrade of the 4D model the 5D upgrades its armor to eight and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor and mounts five additional Rocket Launcher 10s giving the Ostsol incredible one shot firepower in a pinch giving it added shock value when facing an enemy. BV (1.0) = 1,084
  • OTL-5M - The 5M variant of the Ostsol is an upgrade of the design using Star League technology and is built for close range combat. The engine, heat sinks and weapons have been stripped from the chassis. The engine was upgraded to an extralight engine and the 'Mech uses double heat sinks. Finally the 5M Ostsol carries two Large Pulse Lasers and four Medium Pulse Lasers, two of which are rear mounted to discourage attacks against the 'Mechs weak rear armor. Finally for added protection against missile attacks the 5M carries an Anti-Missile System BV (1.0) = 1,102
  • OTL-7M - The 7M steps outside the Ostsols design philosophy of independent operations. The 'Mech is built around an Endo Steel chassis and uses an extralight engine for power. The primary weapons are two Light Gauss Rifles and four ER Medium Lasers. Finally CASE has been added to protect against a catastrophic failure of either of the Light Gauss Rifles. BV (1.0) = 1,294
  • OTL-8M - The 8M Ostsol is built using the same Endo Steel chassis as the 7M and a larger extralight engine boosting the 'Mechs speed to 97.2 kph. The 'Mech is similar though to the intended design philosophy of the 'Mech. The 8M uses Triple Strength Myomer to boost its top speed to 118.8 kph and carries as its primary weapon a PPC. This is supported by a Large Pulse Laser, three Medium Pulse Lasers, an ER Small Laser, and an ER Medium Laser. BV (1.0) = 1,196
