Unit Description

The Pleiades Lancers was a Taurian Concordat BattleMech formation formed from elements of the Pleiades Hussars in 2620. In 2765 they were stationed on Mas. Prior to the fall of the Star League they were used in various bandit hunting campaigns.[1]

The unit was disbanded same year as the Jihad erupted.

Unit Insignia & Paint Scheme

The unit's insignia is a diving eagle with upside down diamond in foreground. The eagle is clutching a sword between its talons. The lancers always paint blue or yellow with tiger-stripes or jungle-vine pattern on their machines. The colors honor the lost Pleiades worlds.[2]

History

Formation

The Pleiades Lancers were splintered off from Pleiades Hussars prior to the Clan Invasion. The unit took on the tradition and history of their Hussars, including their hatred of House Davion.[3][4]

Tour in Capellan Confederation and the Chaos March

When the call for volunteer units to be assigned to the Capellan Confederation, the Pleiades Lancers was eager to join in the deployment with possibility clash with House Davion forces. However, they had missed opportunity fight in the St. Ives Conflict, were deployed to border of the Chaos March. The unit finally saw action when it was deployed to the Chaos March world of Styk. There they were part of the House Liao's conquest of the planet. They fought assorted mercenary forces used to garrison the world. The Lancers developed tactics combating the mercs, where they used wave tactics wear the opponents down until they weaken enough for regiment roll over them. In the fighting, the 2nd Battalion took severe damage, losing 2 company worth of BattleMechs. In 3064, the Confederation gave regiment 24 modern BattleMechs to make up for their losses. Additionally, 12 students from the Liao Conservatory of Military Arts were assigned to the regiment as part of the cadre duty and help for personnel shortages.[5]

The Pleiades Crusade & Destruction

In 3066, the regiment became part of efforts reclaim the long lost Pleiades Cluster . After the mercenary attack of Taurus, the Concordat used information that allowed mercs to navigate nebula and invade their lost Pleiades Cluster. They joined their fellow Taurian forces such as Pleiades Hussars and Hyades Light Infantry among other units to invade. The Lancers first moved to secure Lindsay. After initial success in capturing worlds, they with the Hussars moved try retake Pleiades itself.

By 3067, Lancers were forced back from the Cluster, and survivors of the Lancer fell apart. They were then absorbed into the Pleiades Hussars.[6]

Tactics

The unit uses method of sending out their battalions in waves. With battalion attacking the enemy, then withdrawing under fire of artillery. They would repeat this until enemy is weathered enough for full regiment advance and overwhelm the opponent.[10]

The 2nd Battalion VTOL crews conduct high speed low-altitude operations which use nape of earth tactics to move stealthily behind enemy line.
