Planetary History

The planet itself is very plain. Typical weather, terrain and resources focus life into the cities where the Lyran merchants have their colorful bazaars.[43] The capital city of Port Moseby, Feintuch, is on the Aberrant continent; the only other continent is named Java.[1]

A sprawling business center, Port Moseby is part major spaceport and part busy city. With a steady traffic of JumpShips flashing in and out of the system, this system is a hub of commerce. Being almost completely surrounded by the Draconis Combine enables it to be a port where Lyran and Draconis Combine merchants can buy and sell. It would be easier to say what is not traded on Port Moseby than what is.[43] The Draconis Combine has many needs and wants and the merchants from the Commonwealth are more than willing to help them, with the usual fees, of course.

Succession Wars

Second Succession War

During the darkest days of the Second Succession War the Lyran Commonwealth was losing worlds steadily to both the Draconis Combine and the Free Worlds League, and the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces neared the point of collapse, particularly in the 2860s and 2870s. As the 2870s drew to a close the LCAF regained some of its confidence and launched a number of attempts to recapture some of the worlds that had been lost to the Commonwealth's neighbors, but still couldn't keep pace with the rate at which worlds were being captured. The Combine continued to push towards the important world of Skye, and by 2884 Port Moseby had been captured along with the worlds of Balkan, Kessel, Ryde, Skondia and Vega and the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery was on the verge of being able to threaten Skye directly.[17]

Jihad

During the Jihad, Port Moseby's inhabitants viewed the Word of Blake as a distant threat, after a history of being under constant threat from the Draconis Combine and, more recently, the Clans. After the Jihad, Port Moseby continued to serve as an important linchpin in the Lyran national defenses; while the planet lacks a standing garrison from the LAAF, the planetary militia are confident that they can defend the world. Given the logistical and command importance of Port Moseby, it isn't surprising that the attitude of the militia is bolstered by the widely held belief that if the Clans should begin attacks on the Lyran Alliance again, Port Moseby will once more become the jump-off point for LAAF units.[1]

Dark Age

Port Moseby found itself cut off from the Lyran Commonwealth after the Jade Falcon advance toward Terra. The Rasalhague Dominion intended to annex the world, as it would several other Lyran systems, in 3144. However, the 43rd Benjamin Regulars seized Port Moseby on September 10, 3143. The 43rd Regulars would repulse a raid from the Rasalhague Dominion and their 300th Battle (Rasalhague Dominion) Cluster in 3144.[44][45]
