Planetary Info

Radstadt wasn't a well industrialized world. However, it was known for a unique wood, the Radstadt pine which, when processed, shimmers like gold, as well as a large prison complex. The decentralized population is supplied with food from the planet's rich oceans.[2]

Radstadt was a member of the Principality of Rasalhague until it was conquered by the Draconis Combine. After the forcible integration of the Principality into the Combine, Radstadt became a prefecture capital world. Radstadt Prefecture was the center of the Rasalhague Independence movement. The ISF stationed many agents on the world to monitor these activities.[43] The new ruler built the Lotus Flower Correctional Institution - the largest prison complex within Kurita's borders at the time. Eventually the planet returned to the Free Rasalhague Republic and the prison complex was transformed into a museum.[2]

Planetary History

Succession Wars

Fourth Succession War

When the Fourth Succession War began Radstadt was the administrative capital of a Prefecture within the Rasalhague Military District. Following the capture of Stanzach in August 3029 the Tyr BattleMech regiment - a regiment formed in secret by the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces using members of the Tyr resistance movement or personnel with ancestral ties to the Principality of Rasalhague - became increasingly discontent with orders from the LCAF to remain in place on Stanzach. This reached boiling point on the 20th of August when the Tyr rebelled and set off for Radstadt, intent on pursuing the Ninth Pesht Regulars and Thirteenth Rasalhague Regulars, the two regiments they had faced on Stanzach, as well as making another step towards freeing all of the Rasalhague worlds from Combine occupation.[20]

When the Tyr regiment attacked Radstadt it found only the Ninth Pesht Regulars in the system, and the combination of the Tyr's attack and a civilian uprising forced the Ninth off the planet, ceding control of Radstadt to the Lyran Commonwealth.[20]

Clan Invasion

Operation Revival

In 3050 Radstadt was attacked and conquered by Clan Wolf during the Battle of Radstadt. Shortly thereafter the system was the site for one of the most important moments of the Clan Invasion. During a surprise encounter between the Wolf Clan flagship Dire Wolf and the Flying Drakøns, Tyra Miraborg crashed her bomber into the WarShip's bridge, killing ilKhan Leo Showers. His death put the entire invasion on hold for one year as the invading Clans returned to their homeworlds to elect a new ilKhan.[44] During the Clan attempts to introduce a new economic model to the planet's population the unemployment rate rose to about 25%.[citation needed]

After Operation Revival

After being part of a ComStar protectorate for several years after the Truce of Tukayyid, the citizens of Radstadt were eager to evict ComStar and join forces with the Ghost Bears.[45]

Jihad

On the 7th of March 3074 forces from Clan Ghost Bear moved to disrupt a Word of Blake Shadow Division, to be precise the 43rd Shadow Division, which was operating covertly on Radstadt.[46] In the resulting fighting, the Word of Blake forces detonated a number of neutron bombs on Radstadt and unleashed a number of biological weapons, poisoning critical parts of the planet's ecosystem.[47][48] The initial Blakist attacks directly resulted in four million deaths on Radstadt.[49] A bioweapon designed to target the Tseng bloodname was first released on Radstadt.[50]

Planetary Locations

  • Munich, the planetary capital.[56]
  • Radstadt has the dubious distinction of hosting one of the largest prison complexes in the Draconis Combine. The Lotus Flower Correctional Institution is a sprawling facility the size of a small city and is located just outside Munich. The most dangerous criminals, those insane enough to openly rebel against the Kurita government, are held in the Black Tower, a huge windowless, concrete building. Surrounding the building is a ring of fences and minefields to deter anyone leaving.[56]
