Rebecca Ling was the commanding officer of the First St. Ives Lancers as of 3085.[1]

Zhong-shao Ling, serving as the executive officer of the First St. Ives Lancers, participated in the invasion of Genoa in 3081. The unit's commanding officer Duke Kai Allard-Liao was unhappy about his forces being used to further the Capellan Confederation's goals, so the defeat of the defending Dragonsfang Cluster was achieved mainly by the unit's company commanders and Zhong-shao Ling. When the unit was then ordered to attack Terra Firma, Allard-Liao outright refused, with Ling's denouncement of his treason instigating an internal conflict within the First Lancers. After Allard-Liao's flight from the enraged Capellan-loyal troops of the First Lancers and the unit's subsequent shattering in the continuing conflict on Genoa, Ling was promoted to Sang-shao and given command of the remaining battalion for her loyalty and dedication to the Confederation.[2]
Sang-shao Ling continued to command the First St. Ives Lancers by 3085, now stationed on St. Ives in order to build up from a measly tenth of its full strength.[1]
