Description

A primary unit within Free Worlds League aerospace forces, the Riever makes up for its low manueverability and thrust and its somewhat lackluster weapons systems with its capability to take a punch and stay in the fight until the job is done. This post-Star League design also brings to the table easy maintenance and repair routines, due to the need for simplicity, even as early as the first decade of the 29th century. The primary mission of the Riever remains that of anti-enemy fighter formations and DropShips (rather than ground support).

Weapons and Equipment

The Riever's primary weapon is an aerospace-modified Imperator Zeta-A Class-20 autocannon, supplied with a meager ten rounds. The four Beta Short-Range Missile 6-racks are intended for anti-ASF operations; capable of destroying light fighters easily, they can also do significant damage to medium and (fellow) heavy fighters. The Gamma Long-Range Missile 10-Rack was a late addition to the Riever series.

Variants

• F-100a 

  This variant, introduced in 2829, swaps out the LRM-10 for two more SRM-6s. Unlike the anti-DropShip model, this one is intended to get into a thick dogfight and deal some SRM-style pain close-up. BV (1.0) = 1,381, BV (2.0) = 1,575

• F-100b 

  This unpopular variant was introduced in 2835 and replaces the SRM launchers with two AC/5s. In order to accomodate the autocannons, armor had to be sacrificed, costing the model its primary (and some say "only") advantage. BV (1.0) = 1,223, BV (2.0) = 1,262

• F-700 

  The new-era variant, introduced in 3050, has increased thrust and managed greater heat control (through the use of double heat sinks). The craft is popular with the Free Worlds League, the new Star League and the Word of Blake. BV (1.0) = 1,474, BV (2.0) = 1,626

• F-700a 

  A variant of the -700 model, this craft also makes use of double heat sinks, but also has swapped out the conventional weapons package for an LB 10-X AC and eight SRM-6 racks. Introduced 3050. The Federated Suns joins with the Free Worlds League, the new Star League and the Word of Blake in utilizing the -700A. BV (1.0) = 1,768, BV (2.0) = 1,994

• F-700b 

  This variant is introduced during the FedCom Civil War. Equipped with 16 tons Ferro-Aluminum for better protection. The standard AC/20 is upgraded to an Ultra AC-20 model, and the SRM launchers in each wing are updated to Streak SRM 6, plus two extra launchers. BV (2.0) =2,185

Notes

In German products the unit's proper name was altered to Schnitter, which roughly translates to Reaper. The model code was altered to F-500.
