Planetary Info

Despite the name of the planet, the Simpson Desert is covered with beautiful thick forests, rolling hills and fields, and jagged rock formations that obscure movement. It is not a desert that world's name suggests. A mistake stemming from the first survey of the planet by early explorers.[33] A spice discovered on this world Simpson's Delight (discovered by Professor Waldo Simpson) was used by chefs in a new dish known as "Simpson's Dessert." This dish gave the world it's name. When a clerk in the Terran Hegemony entered the name into their database, one "s" was accidentally dropped, leading to the name "Simpson's Desert."[1]

The world is home of remains of Fort Verdun, a fort used by the first Star League.[34]

Planetary History

Star League

Simpson desert was the place where the Star League built a military base, named "Fort Verdun".

Dark Age

In 3137 Simpson Desert was captured by the Lyran Commonwealth, during Operation Hammerfall. The militia entrench themselves in Fort Verdun, enlarging the fight. Camacho's Caballeros captured the planet after the defending Third Tamarind Regulars put up a fierce resistance.[35]
