Description

The Sortek Assault Craft is a thirty-second century combat hovercraft, originally produced by Corean Enterprises for the armed forces of the Federated Suns. Built on New Avalon, Corean Enterprises constructed the craft as a means to repeat its success with its last successful hovercraft, the Musketeer. The Sortek was used by many Armed Forces of the Federated Suns combat units by the 3140s to rebuild their devastated forces. Many AFFS commanders would mistakenly use the Sortek as a main combatant, which would cause heavy casualties due to the Sortek's lack of being able to deliver a killing blow to a heavier opponent.

Weapons and Equipment

Powering the Sortek is its General Motors 170-rated standard Fusion Engine, which gives the vehicle enough speed to generally out-flank most of its opponents. With a combination of its speed to protect it from harm, the Sortek additionally relies on five tons of Valiant Lamellor Special Heavy Ferro-Fibrous Armor.

The Sortek's main offensive firepower comes from its dual Mydron Tempest Rotary Class 2 Autocannons. These front mounted weapons draws from its two tons of ammunition which lie in its hull. Adding to its defensive layer is a single Anti-Missile System, which is also mounted forwards.

Variants

• Sortek Assault Craft (Interdictor) 

  Designed for electronic warfare on the request of AFFS, this variant of the Sortek uses a Guardian ECM Suite as the primary equipment payload. The Interdictor uses a more powerful engine to propel it forwards up to 150 kph. Additionally, the vehicle benefits from an Armored Motive System, making it far more robust than most other combat vehicles. What also has been changed from the standard model is that the Sortek's main guns are swapped out for a pair of Light PPCs, while its defensive AMS remains in place. Lastly, the Sortek is also fitted with a C3 Slave Unit to give it the ability to coordinate and act as a spotter for other C3 units in its lance. BV (2.0)=884

Notes

The Sortek Assault Craft was first created by Wizkids' MechWarrior Dark Age Collectable Miniatures game as a part of its Death from Above expansion set. It was later adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined once the company advanced the franchise's timeline to 3145.

As of this time, CGL's official Master Unit List does not list a profile for this unit, thus no production year is available.
