Planetary Overview

Sorunda has a large population of Buddists. It also possesses three continents named Black Falls, Serenity, and Xeno. Sorunda is also home to a Hero Training Institute campus in 3079.[1]

Planetary History

In July 3068 the Word of Blake inserted a Level II of BattleMechs and two Level IIs of infantry onto Sorunda to pretend to be bandits or terrorists, part of a scheme to cause discontent and the impression of a lack of security on the planet, so that official Word of Blake forces could land to deal with the "bandits" and persuade Sorunda to join the Word of Blake Protectorate. The Blakist forces on the planets were discovered by Lennox's Light Horse, a small mercenary unit under contract to the ruler of the Caiman Province on Sorunda, and the Light Horse managed to piece together the Blakist plan from information held on the computers in a salvaged Blakist Grasshopper. The Blakist forces subsequently left Sorunda after battling the Light Horse for a second time - but not before recovering the Grasshopper, to prevent it being used as evidence. In addition to ambushing the Light Horse command lance, the Blakists launched a terrorist attack in the city of Raymond to cover for their strike at the Light Horse barracks, killing some six hundred citizens of Sorunda in the process.[32]
