Planetary History

Early History

In 2414, The Draconis Combine captured the world of St. John during Archon Katherine Steiner's wedding celebration to the Duke of Fatima, Deven Reynolds. The high importance of St. John to the Commonwealth forced the LCAF to undertake a major counterattack, led by Duke Reynolds. The offensive that would become known as the St. Johns Assault.[47]

In 2415, another invasion by the LCAF ends with Duke Reynold's tank destroyed in an overwhelming missile barrage during another failed attempt to retake St. John.[47]

[2417] The LCAF will make two more attempt to take St. John, in 2417 and 2418, both unsuccessful.[citation needed]

When Shiro Kurita launched his invasion of the Principality of Rasalhague in an attempt to annex the Principality and add it to the Draconis Combine during the 2330s and 2340s the brutalities inflicted by the Combine forces were such that many of the survivors fled from the Principality. In some instances, survivors from one or more Principality worlds banded together to found new colonies. Technicians from St. John joined with survivors from other worlds - craftsmen and artists from Predlitz and Kufstein as well as engineers from New Bergen - to settle the worlds of Bensinger, Steelton and Toland. All three worlds were on the outer reaches of settled human space, cold and icy worlds that would subsequently be courted by the growing Rim Worlds Republic.[2]

Star League

Prior to the Star League Civil War

In 2764, the 47th Royal Mechanized Infantry Division of the Star League Defense Force destroyed a base for the armed group called the Great North on Outpost, New Bergen and St. John. However, the SLDF troops thought they were defeating a group of Periphery separatists. In actuality, the group was made of ethnic Rasalhagians wanted for political and cultural crimes by the Draconis Combine. The SLDF troops were unknowingly doing the dirty work of oppressive Combine policies. This revelation nearly caused the entire Division to mutiny.[48]

Clan Invasion

Operation Revival

During Operation Revival the planet was conquered by Clan Wolf in April 3050. The planet was defended by the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th St. Johns Free Brigades and under the command of a hero of Rasalhague's fight for independence, Överste Klinton Meyer. Thanks to his aggressive defense Överste Meyer was able to hold out against Supernovas Command and Second of the 341st Assault Cluster until Star Colonel Ramon Sender forced his surrender by threatening the lives of innocent civilians. For this "dishonorable action" the Star Colonel was publicly reprimanded by Khan Ulric Kerensky.[49]

The Jihad

Clan Hell's Horses launched a invasion of the Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere in early 3071, acquiring holdings for their own relocation to Spheroid space. St. John was seized by the Hell's Horses at some point in March or early April, who then consolidated their hold on the world.[35]
