Steve Pitcher was the commanding officer of the First Skye Jaegers as of 3062.[2]
History[edit]
In mid-July 3062, elements of the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars raided into the Skye region, leading to Colonel Pitcher launching an unauthorized strike against the Fifteenth Regulars' base on Ko which resulted in a battle that severely damaged the Draconis Combine unit. In retribution, the Combine annexed the Lyons Thumb and the First Skye's involvement was revealed to the public in leaked documents. While Pitcher himself narrowly avoided a court martial, elements of the Lyran Alliance Armed Forces High Command still wanted him to stand trial for his actions. This was due to a belief that a commander as intelligent and experienced as Pitcher should have known not to make a basic error and attack foreign troops without express permission from a superior officer, although Pitcher's status as a "Free Skye hero" prevented him (and his unit) from facing overt punishment.[2]
During the Federated Commonwealth Civil War, Pitcher and the First Skye fought for Skye during the Free Skye Revolt, forcing out the Eleventh Lyran Regulars before being battered by the Eleventh Arcturan Guards. Spared by the recall of the Katherine-loyal forces to defend Tharkad from Peter Steiner-Davion's assault, Pitcher and his troops remained unrepentant for their support of the Skye secessionists.[3]
Following the Jihad, now-Leutnant-General Pitcher retained command of his unit within the Lyran military but had relocated to Hesperus II by 3085, after the absorption of Skye into the newborn Republic of the Sphere.[1]
