Clan Khans[edit]

Okay - so this product us to three Clan Khans - Dorian Wirth for the Smoke Jaguars and Lucian Carns and Severen Leroux for the Nova Cats - who do not seem to be mentioned in any other product. I was considering posting bios for them, but I'm uncertain of their fates. Frankly, a bunch of things in this Scenario Pack - like unit names - didn't jive with later canon. Does anyone have anything to add here? ClanWolverine101 18:57, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

I have no issues with canon material being posted that is either not dealt with again or even overturned in a later product. If that is your concern, feel free to create and post. (Being overturned would warrant a ==Notes== section.)--Revanche (talk|contribs) 20:23, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Its definitely contradicted by our articles if not the material. According to Luthien, Dorian Wirth was Khan (senior) of the SJs at the time. According to our site, Leo Showers was followed by Lincoln Osis. ClanWolverine101 20:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
(Wish we had an emoticon with raising eyebrows.) You've identified a research project that might require you leave the 'library' and go out into the 'field'. So, write the article as stated in the source, and write about the discrepency in the ==Notes== section, or see if TPTB can talk their way around this one by asking here. Good luck. I'm eager to see your report. Wink.gif--Revanche (talk|contribs) 21:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Luthien also has Kincaid Furey as Khan of Clan Smoke Jaguar, when Invading Clans has Lincoln Osis and Sarah Weaver as Khans. That seems to be an aberration. Leroux and Carns are both in Prince of Havoc, however, as the Nova Cat Khans. --Scaletail 23:05, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Huh - you're right about the Nova Cats. I keep thinking of their successors, as those two were killed in the Great Refusal. I'll look into Wirth. ClanWolverine101 02:32, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
From what I recall, the Luthien book is one of the earlier Btech products dealing with the Clan Invasion. As Invading Clans was written past that point, and 'New products are more canon then old products', I'd go with the Invading Clans versions. As is, the CNC Khans are written as being Khan when the Wolf's Dragoon's compromise was reached, so they're much older then Luthien gives us. --Istal devalis 18:47, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Luthien was actually written well after the Wolf Clan and Jade Falcon Clan Sourcebooks, and well after Objective Raids. Yet much of the material doesn't seem to take those guidelines into account. I pass it off as sloppiness. ClanWolverine101 20:31, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Canonicity[edit]

Herb has just indicated over on the CGL forums that the Luthien scenario pack is only considered canon by the writers now if it doesn't contradict another source, in the same manner as the first edition Periphery sourcebook:

And, if Sarna used the Luthien scenario pack as a resource there, the fact is, that book proved to be so riddled with errors, it--like First Edition Periphery and Objective Raids--is now seen by our staff as a "secondary source": Canon only in areas where it does not clash with other canon.
