Talk:BattleTech, Third Edition

Polish edition photos[edit]

Note: The following set of pictures of the Polish edition came from an e-commerce site (Allegro). These pictures help serve to substantiate some information regarding the Polish edition when viewed as a whole (in particular the year of publication). Other product images may be more suited to use in the article itself, but these images are useful to preserve for potatential research or citation purposes.

Portuguese Edition Comment[edit]

Research Notes: Some things suggest an interesting relation/transition between the Portuguese editions of BattleTech, Second Edition and BattleTech, Third Edition. One version contained plastic minis and another contained standees. In the few items that I could find, I did not encounter anything indicating a conclusive distinction in the name (such as a 2nd edition subtitle) that would separate the two versions. Both versions seem to use a rulebook in style of the Third Edition rulebook (rather than the Shadow Hawk cover of the rulebook for the English second edition. In terms of the box the only change is that it appears that a sticker was placed over the contents infobox on the back. c.f., File:BattleTech-Combates Titânicos No Século 31-contents.jpg and File:BattleTech-Combates Titânicos No Século 31, 2nd edition-contents.jpg. As the orignal contents includes 48 cardboard mechs, an adjustment to contents would be needed to adjust for the change from paper standees to plastic minis. Also there is a post at https://zonafrancacomics.blogspot.com/2016/11/battletech-combates-titanicos-no-seculo.html where the original box back still appears yet the plastic minis appear to be present. (There appears to be glue residue over the contents box on box back, which could confirm the "sticker" theory.) That box back somewhat suggests that the orginal version was published 1991. The transition to minis for the English version occurred in 1992. While plausible, would like further information to confirm or revise (both the publication years and this theory). --Dude RB (talk) 21:21, 26 June 2022 (EDT)

Italian edition[edit]

I have found the following pictures, when searching for further information on the Italian edition of BattleTech, Second Edition (See File:Italian BT rulebook cover.jpg.)

The miniatures would imply that this is a version of BT, 3rd ed. However the rulebook uses artwork from the 2nd edition. Also the box back uses artwork from a latter version of the 2nd edition as well. Exact publication date of this is unknown. The copyright date of 1985 on the box is not a publication date. (Interestingly enough, this edition includes two copies of the miniatures and also some smoke and fire tokens, making its composition a bit unique.) Parking these pictures and research notes here for now. --Dude RB (talk) 01:25, 11 February 2023 (EST)
