Tally's Talons was a small mercenary unit. It was under contract of the Federated Suns at 3147. By then, they had won a good reputation while working for them, as part of Task Force Hydra, becoming familiar with the Federated units and performing admirably during combat exercices. The 17 September, they were on New Damascus, as other forces gathered to participate on Operation CERBERUS, the liberation of New Syrtis. Their contract expired that day, and two days later, when negotiations to renovate stalled, First Prince Julian Davion personally negotiated with the unit's CO, Major Tallula Zheng, a new contract, to have them to retake New Syrtis as part of the designated group Fortune Charlie.[1]
The Talons landed on New Syrtis the 5 of December, and the 7, they were part of the attack force during the assault of the Cave. Separated from the First Davion Guards due to Capellan had collapsed tunnels and laid minefields, after catching the Prince's rearguard. Fortune Charlie, which had been secretly hired by Daoshen Liao-Centrella, fired on Julian's Templar III, attempting to kill him, but the Talon's XO, Captain Malerie Faulkner, unwilling to be a part of that betrayal, protected Julian, killing Major Zheng. Also, many of the Guards sacrified themselves to shield the Prince, which managed to advance deep inside the Cave. Eventually, both the Talons and the Capellans' Fourth MAC were caught in a pincer and annihilated. Faulkner was the only confirmed survivor of the Talons.[2][3]
