Tanya DeLaurel was a saKhan and Khan of Clan Hell's Horses.

History[edit]

A Hell's Horses ristar, Tanya DeLaurel rapidly rose to take command of the Horses' renowned Alpha Galaxy. Her leadership, tactical abilities, and success against the Ghost Bears on Niles in 3046 brought her to the attention of Khan Malavai Fletcher. He personally chose her to be his saKhan, and her level-headed nature tempered his more chaotic nature. Though known to have a Crusader mindset, her reserve put her in sharp contrast with the more unstable Fletcher.[2]

In 3061, seeing the need for a DropShip capable of transporting the combined arms troops of the Horses, saKhan DeLaurel commissioned the new and innovative Outpost-class vessel. This vessel saw use during the Hell's Horses' first incursion into the Inner Sphere—an incursion rumored to have been brokered by the calm and persuasive saKhan. The pact formed with Clan Wolf, however, eventually ended in failure. The poor leadership of Khan Fletcher resulted in the Horses' expulsion from the Inner Sphere, with Fletcher himself losing both the Khanship and his life to the ambitions of James Cobb. Even so, DeLaurel's reputation and abilities kept her in her position of saKhan within her Clan.[citation needed]

Khanship and Death[edit]

Continuing as saKhan during the tumultuous Wars of Reaving, Tanya DeLaurel assisted Khan James Cobb in planning for the Horses' return to the Inner Sphere. Elected as Khan in 3081, DeLaurel led the Hell's Horses for only a handful of years before falling in combat on Bruben during a Clan Wolf Trial of Possession.[3]

BattleMechs[edit]

Originally known for her Ghost Bear–built Mad Dog salvaged from the battlefields of Niles, DeLaurel claimed the first Balius to emerge from its production lines. Her skill and ability at the helm of the quad BattleMech impressed the capabilities of the machine onto the Warriors of her Clan, helping to increase its popularity and usage.[1][4]
