Planetary History

First Succession War

The border between the Free Worlds League and the Lyran Commonwealth was an active combat zone during the First Succession War, and Thermopolis had the misfortune of being close enough to the Bolan Thumb region to be caught up enough in the fighting as the Commonwealth annexed the Thumb. By the 2810s, the Kallon Industries facilities on Thermopolis was still producing BattleMechs for the Free Worlds League Military despite damage to their production lines, but shortages of certain items as a result of disrupted trade and shipping threatened Kallon's ability to keep manufacturing. One of the steps Kallon took in response was to retool their Wolverine manufacturing lines in 2816 to produce a new, locally-designed variant using available materials, and a year later these new Thermopolis-produced 'Mechs were in action in the nearby Bella I system as the two nations continued to battle for supremacy.[31]

The Jihad

The planet Thermopolis was one of the targets of the Skye and Bolan Province invasion of the Free Worlds League in March 3068. The invasion by the combined forces of the two Province, named Operation ÜBERSCHATTEN, saw Thermopolis occupied along with the worlds of Colfax, Pingree and Sheridan by the 30th of March 3068.[22] As a part of the peace terms agreed between Marshall Jeremy Brett of the FWLM and Duke Alder Umayr of Bolan - and as a result of battlefield attrition - the Lyran Alliance withdrew its forces from Thermopolis by the end of 3069.[23]
