History[edit]

In Nova Cat Service[edit]

As of November 3067 the Lola III-class destroyer Hunter was a WarShip within the Clan Nova Cat touman and as such was serving the Second Star League as the SLS Hunter as a part of the Nova Cat merchant fleet.[1]

In 3078 the NCS Hunter served as a part of Task Force EARTHBOUND, the WarShip flotilla responsible for clearing the naval defenses around Terra as a part of the allied coalition efforts to capture the planet from the Word of Blake,[2] and was one of only two Nova Cat WarShips to survive the Jihad.[3]

After the establishment of the Republic of the Sphere the Hunter joined the Republic's small WarShip fleet and was renamed the Triumphus.[4]

In Republic Service[edit]

The vessel would see most notable actions during Battle for Terra beginning in January 3151, as it and the Republic's Warship fleet would begin series engagements with oncoming Clan Wolf and Jade Falcon forces.

In the first engagement she participated in, she was assigned to Task Force Hannibal, where she was among Warships ordered by Republic Admiral Labbé to engage Clan Wolf's Task Force Mercury, which was carrying entire touman of the Wolves. Her most notable actions she took was vanguard of the Republic lines and fired the first shots of the engagement. In course of the fight, Wolves' flagship, SLS McKenna’s Pride and CWS Dire Wolf combined their firepower to break the keel of the ship. She and other surviving elements of Hannibal withdrew from combat to the naval-defense station of Fort Grec, one of the two naval-defense stations at the zenith jump point.[5]

As the ship arrived with rest of the Task Force, Clan Jade Falcon had appeared, started to attack the two defense stations. Republic Admiral Labbé ordered the fleet to engage the Falcons in hopes to destroy as many of the in bound troop ships as soon possible. The Triumphus would engage in her final action, where she would engage the Black Lion Class Battlecruiser, the CJF White Aerie. The baddly damaged destroy would close in and be set to fire it's broadside of Naval Lasers into the Falcon Warship, as it's crews would abandon ship. Reeling from the damage inflicted on her, the White Aerie would use her firepower in the exchange to destroy the ship.[6]

Notes[edit]

In 2990 the Nova Cats traded three of their Carrack-class merchant vessels with their holds full of supplies to Clan Star Adder in exchange for three Lola III-class destroyers. At the time, it was not certain - that the Hunter was one of the Lola III-class ships acquired as a result of this trade.[7]
