Planetary History

From orbit Tsukude looks like a tropical paradise. Thirteen large island continents are scattered across the planet's surface, with easy access to water, plants, and fish. The problem is that Tsukude's plants and animals don't use the same carbon dioxide/oxygen cycle that humans need. Instead the wildlife draws energy from nitrogen based sources in the planet's atmosphere. As a result the plants and animals are much more acidic than humans can tolerate. This meant that Tsukude's inhabitants have had to import most of their food ever since the world was settled.[1] Planetary laws required that all foreign organisms be segregated, and as a result not only was Tsukude heavily reliant on imported food even at the height of the Star League, but the food itself was horribly over-processed and subject to so much chemical reconstitution that visitors were often shocked by the results.[45]

By contrast, the fossil fuels and natural gas that are abundant in the crust can be used anywhere. Tsukude's economy was based on these exports, as well as exported precious metals and some pharmaceuticals as well. Tourism also became a large part of the economy, with sport fishermen making up the largest demographic. The fish that were caught were (and are) inedible, but big game fishers love the challenge of landing a Tsukude seacat.[1]

First Succession War

Tsukude was conquered by the Draconis Combine between 2786 and 2790, one of seven worlds to be captured in attacks that had frequently begun as raids, as the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces began to crack under the pressure of continuing efforts to annex the Bolan Thumb while also attempting to maintain a defensive posture against both the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery and the Free Worlds League Military.[11]

Later Succession Wars

After the fall of the Star League the DCMS often used Tsukude as a staging area for raids and assaults into the Lyran Commonwealth. The Commonwealth in turn raided Tsukude frequently. As a result of the near constant warfare of the Succession Wars the tourism industry declined rapidly, and the raids quickly damaged the productivity of the refineries and mining operations.[1]

Planetary Geography

Tsukude has thirteen continents that include: Ikadae, Soto, Nakaru, Liam, Domashimi, Opana, Yoshetsu, Weng-Li, Taris, Kuyuna, Shobenwa.[1]
