Willard Amaris was the cousin of Rim Worlds Republic President Amanda Amaris.[1]

Upon Richard Amaris' death in 2619, his daughter Amanda was sworn in as president the next day. She immediately announced her intention of restoring democratic elections no later than 2621.[1]
Willard Amaris was the instigator of a botched coup attempt in 2620. A renegade detachment of the Home Guards sprayed machine gun fire all over the palace, killing both Amanda and Willard in the confusion. Amanda's brother Jeffrey stepped in to restore order, carrying out his sister's reforms in 2622, but developed a distaste for statecraft and resigned from office, appointing Amanda's baby daughter Selanta as the next president when she came of age.[1]
